5 Ways to Get Better Results with AI

Have you ever asked AI to help you write something… and the response made you go, “Huh?”

You’re not alone. The truth is, AI is powerful, but it’s not a mind reader.

It can absolutely help you create amazing content for your business.

But only if you know how to ask for what you want.

So, what’s a prompt?

A prompt is just the instruction or question you give to the AI.

That’s it. You, communicating to the AI tool what you want it to do. Simple, right?

But here’s the thing: the better your prompt, the better your results.

If you say something like:
“Write a post for my business.”
You’ll probably get something bland. And maybe even wrong.

But if you say:
“Write a 3-line Facebook post about imposter syndrome, in a casual voice, with a question at the end.”
Now the AI knows what to do.

What Most People Get Wrong

Most beginner prompts are either:

  • Too vague
  • Too short
  • Missing context

That’s like handing someone a paintbrush and saying, “Paint something.”
They’ll try… But it might not be what you wanted.

5 Ways to Get Better Results with AI

Want the good stuff from ChatGPT or any other tool?

Here’s how to ask better:

  1. Set the scene
Let AI know who you are and who you help.
“I’m a business coach for women over 50 who want to grow their online brand.”
  2. Say exactly what you want
    No guessing games.
“Help me write a 1-paragraph intro for my blog about morning routines.”
  3. Choose your tone
Tell the AI how you want it to sound.
“Make it warm, friendly, and a little funny.”
  4. Pick your format
Do you want a list? A story? A script? Just ask.
“Give me 3 quick tips in bullet points.”
  5. Use follow-ups
Don’t like the first try? Ask for changes.
“Can you make this more inspiring?”
“Rewrite it for Instagram with emojis.”

A Quick Before & After

Not-so-great prompt:
“Write a post about coaching.”

Much better:
“Act as a mindset coach. Write a short Instagram caption about why slowing down helps you speed up. Make it encouraging with 2 emojis.”

You’re guiding the AI, not guessing with it. Big difference.

Try It Today

Here’s your challenge:
Pick one thing you need to write this week – an email, a social post, a sales page, etc. – and try writing a better prompt for it.

Use the tips above. You’ll be amazed.
