But if you say:
“Write a 3-line Facebook post about imposter syndrome, in a casual voice, with a question at the end.”
Now the AI knows what to do.
What Most People Get Wrong
Most beginner prompts are either:
- Too vague
- Too short
- Missing context
That’s like handing someone a paintbrush and saying, “Paint something.”
They’ll try… But it might not be what you wanted.

- Set the scene
Let AI know who you are and who you help.
“I’m a business coach for women over 50 who want to grow their online brand.” - Say exactly what you want
No guessing games.
“Help me write a 1-paragraph intro for my blog about morning routines.” 
Choose your tone
Tell the AI how you want it to sound.
“Make it warm, friendly, and a little funny.”- Pick your format
Do you want a list? A story? A script? Just ask.
“Give me 3 quick tips in bullet points.” - Use follow-ups
Don’t like the first try? Ask for changes.
“Can you make this more inspiring?”
“Rewrite it for Instagram with emojis.”
Choose your toneA Quick Before & After
Not-so-great prompt:
“Write a post about coaching.”
Much better:
“Act as a mindset coach. Write a short Instagram caption about why slowing down helps you speed up. Make it encouraging with 2 emojis.”
You’re guiding the AI, not guessing with it. Big difference.
