A coach finds someone in their space who’s killing it. Big following. Lots of engagement. Clients coming in left and right.
So, they start doing what that person does. Same topics. Same format. Same kind of captions.
And then… nothing happens.
Sound familiar?
Here’s the thing. People can feel when something is a copy. They might not be able to explain it, but it just feels a little off. A little flat. Like a cover song that’s technically fine but missing something.
That something is YOU.
Why Standing Out Feels Scary
Most coaches don’t stand out on purpose. They blend in on purpose.
It feels safer. If you sound like everyone else, no one can really criticize you. You’re just doing what works, right?
But blending in has a cost. When you look and sound like everyone else, the only thing left to compete on is price. And that’s a race you don’t want to run.

It’s not your logo. It’s not your color palette. It’s not even your niche, at least not by itself.
What makes you different is the combination of your story, your opinion, and the way you see the world.
Nobody else has lived your life. Nobody else has made your mistakes, had your wins, or learned what you’ve learned. That stuff is yours. And it’s exactly what the right clients are looking for.
Three Places to Start
- Lead with your story. Why did you get into this work? What did you go through that your clients are going through right now? Share that. People connect with real, not perfect.
- Have an opinion. The coaches who stand out aren’t afraid to say, “I think the common advice on this is wrong.” You don’t have to be controversial. You just have to be honest about what you actually believe.
- Stop trying to sound professional and just sound like yourself. Write like you talk. Use the words you actually use. If you say “here’s the deal” in real life, say it in your content too. Your personality is not unprofessional; it’s your brand.
The Bottom Line

There is literally no one else who can do what you do the way you do it. The goal isn’t to be louder than everyone else. It’s to be clearer about who you are and who you help.
When you do that, the right people find you. And they already feel like they know you before they ever get on a call.
So stop trying to sound like everyone else.
Sound like you. That’s the whole strategy.
