Boost Your Content with Powerful Action Invitations

As a coach or consultant, I know you are always looking for new ways to grow your business.

You’re probably even creating great content, but are you missing a key ingredient?

Let’s talk about action invitations – a critical element that can turn your content from good to great!

What’s an Action Invitation?

An action invitation is just a fancy way of saying “Call to Action” or CTA. It’s how you get your readers to do something after they’ve read your content. Without it, they might just read and move on, forgetting all about you and your awesome services. Seriously, the average human has less of an attention span than a goldfish! (So the studies say -> check it out here)

Why You Need Action Invitations

Think about it – we’re all busy. Your readers might love what you’re saying, but they need a little nudge to take the next step. That’s where your action invitation comes in. It tells them exactly what to do next.

Types of Action Invitations

There are lots of ways to invite action:

  • Ask readers to comment on a post
  • Invite them to join your group
  • Offer a free download in exchange for an email address
  • Suggest booking a call (this works best after you have built up a bit of relationship first.)

The key is to match your invitation to where your reader is in their journey with you.

The Action Invitation Funnel

Don’t jump straight to asking for a big commitment. Instead, use what I call a CTA funnel approach:

  1. Start small: Ask for a comment. Let them get to know you a bit.
  2. Build trust: Offer more value by asking them to exchange their email for a quiz or a guide.
  3. Deepen the connection: Invite them to a short call or consultation.

This way, you’re not rushing the relationship. You’re building the know-like-trust factor step by step.

Making Your Invitation Stand Out

Here are some tips to make your action invitation pop:

  • Use clear, simple language
  • Make it obvious what they’ll get
  • Create a sense of excitement or urgency
  • Use action words like “Get,” “Download,” or “Join”

Examples in Action

“Want to feel energized all day? Comment ‘ENERGY’ below to get our free guide!”

This is a great starter invitation. It’s easy to do and offers clear value.

Later, you might say:

“Ready to stop the energy roller-coaster? Click here for a personalized energy quiz!”

This moves them further along, offering more tailored help.

Keep It Real

Remember, the goal isn’t to trick anyone into buying. It’s about offering real value and solutions. Be honest about what you’re offering, and people will appreciate it.

Once they know you are the real deal and that you actually care about them and their results, they will come to you asking for your programs and services.

Your Turn to Act

Now that you know about action invitations, it’s time to use them! Look at your content. Where can you add an invitation? Start small and watch your engagement grow.

Remember, great content plus smart action invitations equal business growth. So go ahead, invite your audience to take action today!
