Many coaches and consultants struggle with content that gets engagement but not conversions. They post regularly, but their audience isn’t taking action. The key to content that converts is finding the right balance between value and strategic calls to action.
Why Content Without Engagement Is Just Noise
Posting for the sake of staying “consistent” won’t grow your business. If your content doesn’t spark conversation, build trust, or guide your audience toward a next step, it’s just noise in their feed. The best content makes people stop, think, and act.
The goal of your content should be to stop the scroll.
The 4-Part Framework for Creating Content That Converts
Step 1: Grab Their Attention Your audience is scrolling fast. You have 3 seconds (or less) to make them stop and read. Your first line is what stops the scroll. Check out these examples of attention grabbing first lines:
- A bold statement: “Your content isn’t the problem—your strategy is.”
- A relatable question: “Ever feel like your posts are getting ignored?”
- A surprising fact: “90% of coaches struggle with content that doesn’t lead to sales.”
Step 2: Spark Their Interest Now that you have their attention, you want to keep it. The best way to do this is by making your content relevant and relatable. Here are a few ways you can do this:
- Use storytelling – Share personal experiences or client wins that show transformation.
- Make it interactive – Ask a question or invite them to comment.
- Address a pain point – Show them you understand their struggles and that you have a solution.
Step 3: Provide Value Without Overwhelming Your content should help your audience solve a problem, shift their perspective, or inspire action. But be careful—too much information can feel overwhelming. Instead of teaching everything in one post, break it into smaller, digestible steps.
Step 4: End with a Clear Action Invitation (CTA) Every post should guide your audience toward a next step. Instead of vague CTAs like “Let me know your thoughts,” try:
- For engagement: “Drop a 🔥 if this resonates with you!”
- For conversions: “DM me the word ‘CONTENT’ for my free Plug-and-Play Content Calendar.”
- For authority: “Save this post for later!”
How to Make Your Audience Feel Part of the Conversation
People don’t want to be “sold to.” They want to feel understood. Using stories, humor, or relatable experiences to create content helps to build a connection.
Example: Instead of saying, “Here’s how to structure a post,” try:
“Are your posts getting crickets?I used to post every day, and all I heard was the chirp chirp of crickets. Then I changed my content strategy, and now I get leads in my inbox daily. Here’s what I did differently…”
